Household Hardware sells a large assortment of Moroccan handmade tiles, or zelliges, in a variety of colors. We sell zelliges for the wall and for the floor. The floor tiles are always +- 15 centimeters long and 5 centimeters wide. The thickness of the tile is +- 2 cm. Household Hardware has some standard colors in stock: pearl white, light gray, black, traditional green. The rest of the colors are available on order. The duration of this order varies from 4 to 6 weeks, we inform more here after ordering, but can also help you by phone.

Making process
The zelliges are made only from earth from the quarry near Fez. After the tiles are sculpted into the right shape, the coarse tiles are left to dry in the sun. A refined version is then fired a first time. The heat of the kilns is obtained by burning a variety of fuels such as wood and olive stones. After the first firing, the tiles are dipped in glaze and are ready for the second firing, again in a very primitive kiln. Finally, the zelliges are manually chopped into shape and the edges of the tiles are cut off. This allows the tiles to be placed tightly against each other against the wall and creates the typical effect of this Moroccan tile.
